THE ANGEL METHODOLOGY

WHAT IS YOUR VISION?

What is you vision?

Entrepreneurs are hardwired to be creative, free thinking and highly motivated individuals.

Since we live in times of huge technological, societal and cultural changes we also face the additional pressures of needing to be both innovators and disruptors, and often our personal and professional lives are intertwined thanks to social media. Sometimes, finding the balance between the two can be difficult, but we mustn’t lose sight of our core values, knowing what gets us out of bed in the morning, and what fires up our passion. We should all be able to sum that up in one, or two short sentences and which then best describes our outlook on life and our vision.

The vision is what makes people understand what it is you want to do with your life as the happiest version of the person you can be, whilst making the best contribution not only to yourself, but also to those closest to you and the world at large. To an investor, your vision broadcasts that you have a belief in yourself and in your project.  We are a product of a flawed outlook on society and it’s one in which the standard higher education systems do little, to prepare entrepreneurs for the adventure ahead.

Why have I reached that conclusion?

Because by the time 77% of university graduates leave their institutions, they’re no longer inspired by the subject matter they first enrolled in and most will eventually find employment in jobs outside of the competencies they studied for. In principle, I have no problem with that because life itself is a perpetual study opportunity and we should never stop learning.

Often, however, most graduates emerge from the world of education as markedly different people than when they first entered in at the age of 18 and it’s little wonder that opinions and perspectives have shifted since day one and perhaps they know themselves a little better. The world has also changed around them in those intervening years, and that pace of change is ever more rapid as technology advances.

Many graduates, therefore, enter corporate life entirely unprepared for what lays ahead, however they work their way up the career ladder, learning about business, management and leadership in the process. And therein lies the problem; far from pursuing their original dream, the career they’ve fallen into isn’t the reason they get out of bed in the morning. Despite earning a good, their gut tells them they’re not fulfilling their purpose. There must be more to life than the big pay check, detached house, new car and the exotic holiday.

Then, one day, for whatever reason, the budding entrepreneur can no longer remain dormant and the time comes to pursue the dream. If any of that describes your own journey to date, or you’re about to take that leap of faith, then you’ll be wondering how best to proceed.
