When you meet an investor, they will first of all evaluate you as a person. Of course, entrepreneurs come in all sizes and varieties: from recently graduated visionaries who in the course of their studies have developed an idea, or academics who have perfected a prototype as part of a university spin-off, to high ranking management executives who have decided to leave the corporate world to delve into the world of entrepreneurship. There are also the serial entrepreneurs with perhaps one or two successful exits under their belts and who are eager to repeat that success.
No matter where the entrepreneur originate from, in most cases, the investors will look at three areas when evaluating them and their team:
Clarity of vision
Competence
Mind-set
It’s well known that an outstanding product, or service, in the hands of the wrong team will fail, or at best be mediocre, whereas even an average product or service in the hands of a stellar team will be a success!
